Lens Model

0xa434

Also: LensModel

The lens attached when the photo was taken.

The LensModel tag names the lens, such as 'RF24-70mm F2.8 L IS USM'. On phones, it describes the built-in module and its focal length and aperture.

It is invaluable for photographers reviewing which glass produced a shot, and it survives even when the RAW is converted to JPEG.

Where it misleads

Absent does not mean unknown. Adapted and fully manual lenses have no electrical contacts, so the camera has nothing to record and the field is simply missing. Some third-party lenses write a placeholder such as ---- instead, which readers show as an empty value.

Example value
FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II
