How your photos are handled

Every ExifPixel tool runs client-side. When you select or drop a photo, it is read and processed by JavaScript on your own device. The file is never transmitted to us or any third party. Because there is no upload, there is nothing for us to store or delete — closing the tab clears everything.

Data we do not collect

• Your photos or any image files.
• The metadata contained in your photos.
• Accounts — there is no sign-up or login.

Maps and third-party content

Some tools show a map. The GPS Extractor and the Photo Map Gallery do it when a photo contains coordinates, and the Batch Geotagger does it to preview the location you are about to write. To draw that map, your browser requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap for the relevant area. Only the coordinates needed to show that location are used; your photo itself is never sent.

The Batch Geotagger also has a place search. If you type a place name into it and run the search, that text — and nothing else — is sent to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service, which answers with matching coordinates. It is the one feature on this site that sends anything you typed to another server, and it only happens when you actively search. Analytics and cookies

The tools themselves need no cookies and work with or without analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to see which tools people find useful. It runs on every visit and sets Google's standard _ga cookies, which distinguish one browser from another so a returning visit is not counted twice. If you would rather not be measured, any browser tracking-protection setting, ad blocker or private window will stop it, and clearing this site's data removes the cookies.

What analytics receives is the shape of a visit, never the content of your files. Concretely, we record which tool page was viewed, the file extension you worked with (for example jpg or heic), a coarse size band such as 500KB–2MB, the settings you chose (a target size, a 3×3 grid, blur or pixelate), and whether you downloaded a result.

We deliberately do not send filenames, EXIF values, GPS coordinates, image contents or exact file sizes — a file name alone can reveal a person, and an exact byte count can identify a specific file. IP anonymisation is enabled, advertising and personalisation signals are switched off, and we do not sell data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. The core commitment — processing everything in your browser — will not change.
